yay the other day i was wondering how people made their own icones and then it hits me, I needed to make my own so i tried various things on ms paint.. ya that's right MS PAINT! lol, anyways i found out that if you save your image in a bitmap 24 format you could use it as an icon, but you'll need to click on the tab thing for a different format when you go choose your icon, you need to click on all files or something like that because my computer is french :S ya well anyways so lets recap, save image in bitmap 24 (any size image) then right click on the thing you want to change icon, look for where you saved it, change the tab thing under the name to all files (or what ever its called) then open it and voila you have your home made icon lol enjoy if you din't know it already or downloaded a program to make icons lol
